Longwood University’s men’s basketball team made it clear Tuesday that it was not ready to end its season yet. The No. 10 Lancers upset host No. 7 High Point University 68-55 in the first round of the 2018 Big South Championship. Lancers redshirt junior guard Isaiah Walton, pictured above, unleashed a new-found energy that Head Coach Jayson Gee said had a domino effect on the team. Walton finished with 14 points, as did redshirt senior guard Charles Glover, and redshirt senior guard B.K. Ashe added 12. The team-wide effort earned the Lancers (7-25) a trip to the tournament quarterfin-
als in Asheville, North Carolina, where they faced No. 2 Radford University (19-12) on Thursday. That game took place after press time, but a Longwood victory in it will have advanced the Lancers to Friday’s Big South semifinals at 6 p.m. in Asheville.
