It was a home game that H-SC won 7-4 against Marymount University.
“It makes me feel old, but it makes me feel good that we’ve been able to sustain some quality years over the long haul,” Kinne said of reaching the 300-win milestone.
The Tigers, 7-4 entering Wednesday’s home game against Southern Vermont University, have averaged 20.6 wins per season over the past seven seasons.
“We are all so happy, but not surprised, for Coach reaching 300 wins with Hampden-Sydney baseball,” said Davis Yake, assistant athletic director for media relations and compliance. “Coach is a tireless worker, motivator and teacher, and that shows with his teams. He has kept our baseball program at a high level in our region for over a decade now.”
Now in his 15th season as the Tigers’ head coach, Kinne points to having a consistent staff as the key to the team’s sustained success.
Coach Kinne“Over the last five years, I’ve had the same pitching coach and recruiting coordinator, Robbie Bailey,” Kinne said, “and since 2009, Billy Catron, who used to be the coach at Randolph-Henry High School, has been with me. So, having the three of us together over the long haul has been really nice just to keep things afloat and consistent.”
Yake said, “Coach has been so successful because of the work that he and his staff put into the program all year-round. That hard work trickles down to the players, and they are together ‘all in’ to the team. He has created a level of consistency that keeps his program successful year after year.”
