On Saturday, April 21, bicycle riders of all ages are invited to join the High Bridge Ride in Farmville to help raise money for Alzheimer’s research. The ride will be headquartered at the Third Street Brewing in downtown Farmville and will take place along the High Bridge Trail. Riders will check in at the headquarters starting at 8 am and will start to head out at 9 am when sponsored rest stops open.
“We are really excited to be working with the Third Street Brewing Company for this event,” said High Bridge Ride organizer, Bob Stroh in a press release. “Mark Kernohan has been incredibly supportive, as have all of our sponsors.”
Stroh said that three sponsored rest stops will make the ride fun for all levels and ages. “Benchmark Bank, Centra Health and Performance Bike Shops will be our rest stop sponsors and we are thrilled to have their support,” Stroh said in the release. “For those riders who want to get in their Metric Century ride, having well supplied rest stops is fantastic.”
Music, food trucks and sponsor tents at the Third Street Brewing Company, and shops and restaurants in downtown Farmville, will ensure a great day for riders and their friends and families.
Riders, volunteers and donors can sign up through the High Bridge Ride website, http:// highbridgeride.weebly. com, and use the website links to sign onto the High Bridge Ride Team through Alzheimer’s Association “The Longest Day.”
The top three fundraisers will each receive a gift basket at a 1 p.m. ceremony at the Third Street Brewing.
“We hope to raise a significant amount of money for critical Alzheimer’s research,” Stroh said in the release, whose personal connection to Alzheimer’s is his wife’s diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer’s. Rider sign-up and fundraising before the ride is strongly encouraged.
