The Church and Community Events calendar is published each Friday. Items must be submitted by 10 a.m. Monday for that Friday’s calendar. Events should be emailed to CommunityCalendar@FarmvilleHerald.com.

SPAGHETTI DINNER, sponsored by Beulah United Methodist Women at the Abilene Community Center to benefit the Church Building Fund. Takeouts 4-5 p.m. Eat in 5-7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the door. Any questions, call Betty Gryder at (434) 223-8343.

PRAYER BREAKFAST, 9 a.m. at St. Douglas Baptist Church, Charlotte County. Minister Carolyn Goode will be the guest speaker. All are welcome.

PAMPLIN BARN DANCE, 6-8 p.m. at 115 Main. St. Pamplin. Free admission. Donations appreciated. Full catered meal by chef Timothy.

DOG WALK, 10 a.m. along one of the parks trails beginning at the Lee’s Headquarters pull off. Approximately two mile loop trail. Wear appropriate shoes for walking in the woods. All dogs must be on a leash.

MARCH 4

DEACON AND DEACONESS ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Red House. Pastor Donald Hamlette, Pastor of the Rose Chapel Baptist Church, Madison Heights, along with his choir, ushers and congregation will be the guests. Lunch will be served after morning worship.

PROGRAM, 3 p.m. entitled “The Church” at Tearwallet Baptist Church, Cumberland on U.S. Route 60.

WOMEN IN COLOR AND MEN IN TIES, 3 p.m. at The First Rock Baptist Church. The guest group will be Marilyn Randolph and the Springfield Mass Choir of Brookneal. This service is being held in memory of Mrs. Juanita Jackson Vaughan. Light refreshments will be served.

SECOND PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY, 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 2014 Cartersville Road, Cartersville. Morning worship, 11 a.m. with guest minister the Rev. Alvin Witcher Jr. of Mount Olive Baptist Church. A fellowship luncheon following the service. Afternoon worship will begin at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Patrick W. Bland of Mt. Pero Baptist Church.

PASTOR’S AIDE PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Jericho Baptist Church. “Lessons In A Teapot,” will be presented and The Soldiers For Christ will render music ministry. A fellowship dinner will follow. All are welcome.

PREACHER FOR THE MONTH, 11 a.m. honoring the Rev. Jesse Gatlin at Forest Baptist Church, Meherrin for the month of March.

PASTOR’S AIDE PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at White Oak Grove Baptist Church, 2265 Harvey Road, Phenix. The Rev. Charles Woolfolk, pastor. M.C. will be Martha Ann Harris. Everyone is welcome.

MONTHLY MEETING, of the Curdsville Community Center, 122 School Road. The speaker will be Jordan Miles of Piedmont Senior Resources Area Agency on Aging. Everyone is welcome. Bring friends and your favorite covered dish or dessert.

MONDAY MOVIE MATINEE, noon at Farmville library. Enjoy a free, family-friendly movie. Bring your own snacks or lunch.

GENEALOGY RESEARCH WORKSHOP, 7-8:30 p.m. at Greenwood Library Atrium & Learning Commons.

PROSPECT HISTORICAL SOCIETY TO MEET, 7:30 p.m. in the Prospect firehouse. Come join in and participate in the sharing of photos and stories of the Prospect area. Bring up to five photos of the Prospect area and/or family with stories to share. Guests are welcomed.

HEART OF VA BEEKEEPERS TO MEET, 7 p.m. at the Prince Edward County Extension Office across from Lowe’s in Farmville. State Bee Inspector Jessica Driver will speak. NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH COMMITTEE TO MEET, 6:30 p.m. for the Tuggle neighborhood at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 1913 Tuggle Road, Farmville. All are welcome.

LUNCH AND LEARN, noon at Buckingham library. Bring lunch to chat with others and learn something new. This week: discover the benefits of essential oils. Make a lavender foot soak to take home.

LENTEN SERVICE, noon at Payne Memorial United Methodist Church. The theme this year is Walking in Newness of Life. The speaker will be the Rev. Jim Price. Topic is “Not a walk-in the Park.” Lunch will be provided.

SILENT AUCTION, DINNER AND RAFFLE, 4:30 p.m. at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center, 1267 4-H Camp Road, Appomattox.

MEET THE OZOBOTS, 10 a.m. at Buckingham library. The Ozobots are CVRL’s new robots for ages 8-18 to teach the basics of coding. No registration required.

MARCH 11

ANNUAL DAY, 3 p.m. of the Midway Baptist Church Deacon and Trustee Ministry. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Alvin Witcher Jr., Pastor of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Cumberland along with his choir, ushers and church family. The church is located at 837 Guinea Road. The Rev. Irma T. Watson is pastor. All are invited.

FAMILY AND FRIENDS DAY, 11 a.m. at The Old Green Creek Baptist Church. Pastor Samuel Trent will preach the word. Lunch will be served. Dress is casual.
