It was his third season coaching the Tigers. The award encompasses Mid-Atlantic NCAA and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics schools from all divisions. The Tigers improved by 10 wins from the 2015-16 to the 2016-17 season, finishing the latter campaign with a 12-7 mark. H-SC ended the regular season by winning four matches in five days to clinch the No. 5 seed in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament. In the first round, the Tigers defeated Randolph-Macon College 5-0. Led by an impressive freshman class, H-SC featured the top doubles team in the ODAC along with a first-team All-ODAC player at No. 2 singles and a second-team All-ODAC player at No. 6 singles.
