The No. 6-seeded Buckingham County High School’s varsity girls basketball team limited by injuries Friday fell 48-31 to visiting No. 11 Nelson County High School in the first round of the Region 2C tournament. The Lady Knights, who have already been playing without injured standout Shamari Wingfield, proceeded without second team all-district sophomore guard LaDetra Swann, who was also injured. This placed a lot of pressure junior guard Jayda Chambers, an all-district first-team selection pictured above on left, and the rest of the Lady Knights to make adjustments and succeed against Nelson County. Chambers led Buckingham with 14 points, and freshman forward Morgan Randolph contributed eight rebounds. The Lady Knights finished 11-11 overall.
