Henry Walker Calhoun

Henry Walker Calhoun of Richmond, passed away peacefully and into the loving arms of his heavenly father, on Feb. 14, 2018 at the age of 95. He was born on March 10, 1922 in Prince Edward County, VA, to the late Thomas Addison and Ellie Maude Allen Calhoun. Henry was the youngest of three sons and was preceded in death by his brothers Addison Allen and James Richard Calhoun. Henry is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, May Katharine Calhoun. He is survived by his five sons: Thomas A. Calhoun (Pamela); Philip H. Calhoun (Valerie); David A. Calhoun (Julie); Andrew R. Calhoun, and Jonathan C. Calhoun (Cathy). Henry graduated from Farmville High School in 1940. After spending several years helping his father run the family farm while his brothers served in World War II, Henry, with the blessing of his father, joined the United States Navy and served his country in World War II mainly in the Pacific Ocean from 1943 to the end of the war in December 1945. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Navy in 1945, with assistance from the GI Bill, he enrolled at The University of Virginia. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1951 with a degree in Commerce. After college, he married the love of his life, May Katharine. In 1953 he went to work for the Farm Credit Association in Richmond where he remained for over 33 years. A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Tuckahoe Presbyterian Church, 7000 Park Avenue, Richmond, VA.
