Participants can expect delicious foods ranging from pizzas, to tacos, to barbecued ribs and breakfast during Prince Edward County Public School’s (PECPS) second Food Truck Friday event.

The event, beginning Friday from 7-8 a.m., starts off with breakfast fare from Bojangles. The event will continue at lunchtime with Cumberland-based 3 Roosters Brick Oven Pizza & Open Pit Chicken, Appomattox-based No Butts About It BBQ and Catering and Appomattox-based The Taco Wagon. All three will serve from noon until 1 p.m.

Family and Community Engagement Liaison Jennifer Kinne said Tuesday she and other division administration are looking forward to the feast.

“Each of the food trucks are so unique,” Kinne said. “I am thrilled for all of them – I may sample something from each. I have had the Taco Wagon before and it is amazing, 3 Roosters brick oven pizza is to-die for and I can’t wait to try something from No Butts About It because I haven’t tried them before. Of course everyone loves Carlos from Bojangles.”

Kinne said that the school division hosted food trucks during its last professional development day in the fall.

She said a professional development day will take place for teachers this Friday, meaning that students will be out of school.

“However, anyone is welcome to come on campus and enjoy the food trucks,” Kinne said.

David Whaley, owner of 3 Roosters, said he is set to make brick oven pizzas for the event, and previously made some during Professional Development Day last fall.

“We participated last year with them,” Whaley said. “What happens is that teachers have an hour for lunch and we just have the meal ready for them so they take a break.”

Whaley said the meals will work like boxed lunches, where Whaley will serve pizza and a drink together.

Kinne said the response from community members from social media has been positive, and she welcomed everyone to participate.

“We have a good response to our facebook event so far,” Kinne said. “My hope is that the community will feel welcome and comfortable coming on campus. The more business the food trucks get, the better chance we have of them returning for future events.”
