A man was arrested Jan. 25 in Cumberland County on child sexual assault charges.

According to the Virginia Courts Case Information database, Bruce Cox Jr. was arrested on two charges of aggravated sexual battery with victim 13 years or younger, two charges of indecent act with child by parent and one charge of sexual battery.

According to the Code of Virginia, aggravated sexual battery is a felony punishable by confinement in a state correctional facility for a term of not less than one nor more than 20 years and by a fine of not more than $100,000.

The indecent act with child by parent charges are class six felonies and as such are punishable by no more than five years in jail and no less than one year in jail.
