The incident was called in at 11:31 a.m., Farmville Fire Chief Dean Farmer said.

Farmer said the cause of the fire appeared to be from ashes that had been brought out from a wood stove.

Finch said to contain the fire, responders used a “crosslay off (the) engine and a brush rake to dig a fire line to keep from going any further.”

Farmer said responders also used a layer of foam to contain the fire.
