Park to offer hikes for 2018

Bear Creek Lake State Park is set to welcome the new year with an event where people across the Heart of Virginia can enjoy the fresh air and scenery to usher in 2018.

According to a release from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, the hikes set for the event, starting Jan. 1, will include a resolution walk, beginning at 10 a.m. and resolution geocaching at 11:30 a.m. Participants can also enjoy a “Wild Things Walk” hike at 11:30 a.m. and “Strollers with Strollers” at 1:30 p.m.

“The Friends of Bear Creek Lake will be at Bear Creek Hall from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. to provide light fare and warm and cold refreshments,” the release cited, noting that donations are requested. A fire will be available for participants to warm up after the hikes.

“The Channel Cat Interpreted Loop Trail is available for those who prefer to explore on their own,” the release cited.

“Hopefully, 2018 will be a year of multiple opportunities for everyone,” the release cited.
