The Heart of Virginia Christmas Mother (HOVCM) served more than 230 people Wednesday at the Christmas Mother’s distribution. The HOVCM program is a nonprofit charitable organization that was formed in 2016 with the purpose of serving the community by providing those in need with clothes, toys, books and other gift items during the holiday season.
“We had so many wonderful volunteers that helped us to ensure this day ran smoothly,” said HOVCM President Kate Pickett Eggleston. “There is nothing better than being able to serve the community and to see the joy on the parents’ faces as they shop for their children.”
Eggleston said that HOVCM met its fundraising goal for the year. She said this year people made many more toy donations to HOVCM as compared to the year prior.
Prince Edward County Commonwealth’s Attorney Megan Clark was chosen as the 2017 Christmas Mother in June.
