Kirby L. Stinson

Kirby L. Stinson went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017. He was born in Buckingham County on May 10, 1929. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lann Stinson. They were married for 51 years at the time of her death.
Together with their sons they formed Kirby L. Stinson & Sons Asphalt Paving in 1972. Upon this beginning, they built a well-known reputation of “doing the job right the first time.”
Kirby loved the Lord, his family, working and his favorite hobby of raising a garden.
He was a Charter Member of Spears Mountain Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Trustee and the Building and Grounds Committee. He was honored to be a Lifetime Deacon. In 1983 he helped in founding the church and remained a faithful member until his death.
He is survived by his children, Kirby Jr. (Wanda), Linda Harvey (T.C.), Gary (Doris) and Debbie Black (Billy); grandchildren, Hope Stinson, Lewis Stinson, Cole Harvey and Katie Harshman (Zane); great-grandchildren, Malachi and Anzley Harshman and a “special great-grandson” Bryan Haldene who called him “Big Pop.”
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Spears Mountain Baptist Church, Gladstone with the Reverends Robert Wilson and Buck and Buddy Bryant. Interment will follow in the Buckingham Community Cemetery, Buckingham.
The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10 a.m.
The family would like to thank Centra Hospice and two very special caregivers, Amy Kidd and Jessica Lusk, for their caring dedication during this time.
