Roger Dale Dunevant

Roger Dale Dunevant, 65, died peacefully at home on Nov. 15, 2017. A lifelong resident of Buckingham County, he was an outdoor enthusiast from early childhood. Roger was the owner/operator of Dunevant Tree Thinning Co., specializing in the thinning of pine plantations. He was an active member of the Virginia Loggers Association and the Virginia Forestry Association. Roger was a recipient of the Virginia Forestry Association’s Logger Merit Award and was featured in the Feb. 1998 issue of Southern Logging Times.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years Joanna Taylor Dunevant, his mother Annie Mae (Jud) Shows and siblings Trish (Bill) Johnson, Billy (Rose) Dunevant, Bruce (Kay) Dunevant and Nancy (Doug) Rush; his parents-in-law Sue and Dick Taylor and sisters-in-law Anita (Joe) Hays and Sue Ellen Skirkanich. He is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews and their children and a large extended family. Roger was preceded in death by his father, Richard Muriel Dunevant.
A memorial service will be held on Dec. 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Johns Memorial Episcopal Church, 400 High St., Farmville,VA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Centra Hospice or Johns Memorial Church.
