A 32-year-old Farmville man was sentenced by the Cumberland County Circuit Court to 20 years in jail with five years suspended Tuesday following entering a guilty plea to a charge of aggravated sexual battery with a victim 13 years or younger Aug. 1. Christopher Hines was
also found nolle prosequi — which means the charges were abandoned — on charges of indecent act with child by parent, sexual battery and indecent liberties with a child 15 years or younger. Hines was originally arrested Nov. 1, 2016. According to a court order, a presentence report and psycho-sexual evaluation were ordered by the court.
“The judge’s sentencing decision will hopefully bring some degree of closure to the complainant and her family,” said Cumberland County Commonwealth’s Attorney Pat Scales, who prosecuted the case.
