Boo. Don’t miss the Spooky Hollow Drive Through on Saturday, Oct. 28 from 7-9 p.m. This Buckingham tradition will be held at the Historic Village at Lee Wayside. Buckingham Chamber of Commerce will hold its October meeting at the VFW Hall on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at 6:30 p.m. The meal will be provided and there will be speakers from the Buckingham Correctional Center.

The chamber is currently open for nominations for Volunteer of the Year, Lifetime Achievement Award, Youth Achievement Award and Business of the Year. And don’t forget that Dec. 10 will be the Christmas House Tour, featuring eight homes and with extended hours from 3-8 p.m.

Campers ages 9-13 will have the opportunity to work with law enforcement officers from surrounding counties to solve a mystery during CSI Camp Oct. 28-29. This is a weekend program with youth from multiple counties. Classes include cast molds, fingerprinting, crime scene photography and crime scene observation. Come to camp to figure out “Who Dunnit?” Cost is now $70. Transportation is not provided. For more information, contact the Buckingham Extension Office at (434) 969-4261.

Absentee voting for the Nov. 7 general election is underway. Qualified Virginia voters may now vote absentee in-person at their local voter registration office or vote absentee by mail. To vote absentee, registered voters must meet one of the 20 eligibility requirements listed on the Virginia Absentee Ballot Application. Voters who want to vote by absentee ballot by mail must apply before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 31. Absentee ballots by mail must be returned by 7 p.m. on Election Day. In-person absentee voting is available at the local voter registration offices Monday through Friday during regular business hours and on Saturdays, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4. The last day for in-person absentee voting is Saturday, Nov. 4.

Virginia law requires voters to present an acceptable photo ID when voting in person. The last day to register to vote for the November general election is Oct. 16. So You Think You Want to Farm Workshop is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 20 at CVCC in Lynchburg from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Cost is $10 at the door and includes lunch. Discover resources and information for making informed agricultural decisions on potential crops/livestock and run through a financial simulation of your first year’s farming. Southern Virginia Vineyard Development and Expansion to Support Virginia’s Wine Industry Project is hosting A New Grower Workshop on Wednesday, Nov. 1 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Abingdon Vineyards and Winery in Abingdon. Please keep in mind that attendance at a new grower workshop is an eligibility requirement of the New Vineyard Development Program.
