FARMVILLE — A 26-year-old Midlothian man was arrested Sept. 29 in Farmville for attempting to elude law enforcement, driving while intoxicated, driving recklessly, passing on a solid line, driving after forfeiture of license and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
According to Farmville police, Christopher A. Newbaker was observed in a suspicious vehicle by passing another motorist on a double solid line when he then accelerated to a high rate of speed.
“The officer then activated his emergency equipment and attempted to catch up to and stop the suspect vehicle, reaching speeds of up to 80 mph,” police said. “The suspect vehicle turned right onto East Third Street and eventually stopped in a gravel lot near the town limits.”
Police said Newbaker was also served an outstanding failure to appear in court warrant from Chesterfield County.
