Janet Claire Bauserman-Jamerson, 94, of Lewisburg, W.Va., died on Oct. 21, 2017. 

Born Aug. 6, 1923, in Jamaica, N.Y., she was the daughter of John D. Blake and Leonie Blake. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Marvin L. Bauserman and Joseph H. Jamerson; sister, Helen J. Blake; brother, John D. Blake; and step-daughter, Pamela J. Wright. 

Janet served in the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C., working as an assistant in a classified position from 1942-1945. While in the service she took flying lessons to become a pilot but when the war ended, she chose to return home to her family. 

Janet married Marvin L. “Budd” Bauserman in 1955 and moved to Charleston, W.Va., where she spent her time as a dedicated mom, volunteered at church, ladies’ clubs and was active in many organizations.

She enjoyed spending time at their beautiful camp on the Greenbrier River, gardening and hiking with daughter, Pat, and her mother, who spent summers away from New York in the hills of West Virginia with her.

After the death of her husband, she moved to Lewisburg and worked as a receptionist and accountant for Haynes, Ford, Rowe and Guills, 

Attorneys at Law. She also worked summers in the office at the State Fair of West Virginia.

In 1985 Janet married Joe Jamerson and moved to Dillwyn, Va., where she enjoyed rural life in the company of his children and grandchildren.

Janet continued to work with the church, library, women’s club and many other organizations.

After Joe’s death, she returned to Lewisburg and spent her final years at The Seasons Assisted Living facility. She was an avid book reader and never afraid to dabble in music, art, writing and sewing. She began a project making dolls for children displaced from their homes due to domestic violence and donated the dolls to the Family Refuge Center. 

She inherited a wry sense of humor from her family when asked if she thought she would go to heaven, she replied, “Not if they ask too many questions!”

Finding her place in the world was easy as she dedicated her life to helping her family, friends and others. Generous to a fault, no request was too large, no assistance overlooked. Surely she flew through the gates of heaven with a wave and a smile.

Janet is survived by her sister, Eleanor Walsh; daughter, Patrice “Pat” Bauserman; step-son, Hank Jamerson (Debbie); step-daughter, Debra Roberson (James Maize); niece, Jacci Davis and her son, Roger; nephews, Darrell Blake (Lynn) and Sam Bauserman; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. 

A  service will be held at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg on Sunday Oct. 29, 2017 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the Rosewood Cemetery on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017.

A memorial service will be held on Nov. 5, 2017 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jimmy Dunn officiating at the First Baptist Church in Dillwyn, Va.

Many thanks to all the nurses and aides at The Seasons who became not only caretakers but trusted friends. Additionally, much appreciation is given to the nurses and doctors at Peyton Hospice House for their quality of care.
