BUCKINGHAM — A 28-year-old Buckingham County man was arrested Aug. 29 on malicious wounding, strangulation and abduction charges in connection to a domestic assault reported Aug. 23.
According to Buckingham County Sheriff William G. “Billy” Kidd Jr., Ronnie Rose was arrested following the victim being interviewed by an investigator.
The victim was transported to VCU Medical Center from Cumberland County.
“Supposedly he’d assaulted her early that morning… and he refused to let her leave, strangled her into submission,” Kidd said. “Finally she talked him into taking her to the store in Cumberland to buy cigarettes, and when she went in she called and told them she needed help from the police, and that’s why the Cumberland police got into it.”
Kidd confirmed Rose was arrested by Buckingham County deputies.
Kidd said the victim suffered a brain hemorrhage, abrasions, bruising and strangulation.
