MAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Longwood University senior field hockey forward Edel Nyland, pictured above, secured her second multi-goal performance in as many games during Saturday’s 4-0 shutout of LIU Brooklyn, a performance worthy of Mid-American Conference (MAC) Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as announced Tuesday by the conference office. Nyland’s fourth career honor is now a program-best as she surpassed Jennifer Burris, who had three such accolades across her two seasons in the MAC. Nyland scored two goals in the Lancers’ home victory over LIU Brooklyn, and she scored both of her team’s goals in its 2-1 road win against Davidson College on Sept. 10. Those victories have pushed Longwood to 6-1 on the season. A native of Tipperary, Ireland, Nyland is the third different Lancer to be named a conference player of the week as she joins juniors Leonie Verstraete and Katie Wyman.
