It’s time for the fair

It may still be hot outside and feel like summer, but, as of last Friday, it’s officially fall and the season for festivals and fairs.

Kicking off this year’s fall season is the Five County Fair, which runs from Tuesday through Saturday at the Farmville Fair Grounds.

It’s a traditional fair with games, exhibits, carnival rides, beauty pageants, livestock shows, a petting zoo, a country music show down Friday evening and professional wrestling Saturday evening.

And of course, mine and many of yours too, all-time favorite — carnival food!

There is fun to be had for everyone.

It takes a lot of work and effort by many to host an event as large as the Five County Fair.

I give a shout out to long time Fair Manager Auburn Estes for being a driving force behind the fair and to all the countless volunteers for your time and effort in keeping this great event alive for so many of us to enjoy.

Farmville is a better place to live because of folks like you.
