NOTTOWAY — A 44-year-old Farmville woman died in a single-vehicle crash in Nottoway County on Wednesday morning, according to Virginia State Police (VSP) Public Relations Director Corinne Geller.

Geller said Betsy G. Evans was driving east on Route 460 Business in a 1995 Chevrolet CK1500 pickup truck when it ran off the right side of the road.

“The driver overcorrected the pickup, which caused it to cross over Route 460 and run off the left side of the highway and strike a tree,” Geller said.

Geller said the accident occurred near Route 658.

She said Evans was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

“A 15-year-old female passenger was flown to VCU Medical Center for treatment of serious, but non-life threatening injuries,” Geller said. “The teen passenger was wearing a seatbelt.”

VSP Trooper S.E. Wenger responded to the crash at 8:55 a.m.

According to Geller, the crash remains under investigation.
