‘An incredible undertaking’

Thank you for your editorial, “Supporting the walkers” (July 14).
Taking two weeks out of busy lives and walking more than 140 miles is an incredible undertaking.
While your statement cited those most concerned with Atlantic Coast Pipeline benefits were along the route and near the compressor station, you missed the fact that this core group of walkers was concerned about our citizens although they came from a widespread area — a growing alliance that sees the bigger threat to our democratic freedom of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as this corporate greed oozes across our state and our country.
We are vastly freer to demonstrate and exercise democratic rights here in the U.S. That is what we believe our country stands for.
When I look at the results after these efforts, I continually encounter predetermined decisions that fail to honor citizens’ concerns.
As William Penn stated in 1693, “Let the people think they govern and they will be governed.”
If the U.S. is to remain a great nation, we must act now before our freedoms are totally eroded by corporate greed.
Contact your elected officials, write letters to the editor and speak up for your childrens’ future.
