I’m very grateful to Paul Louis and the staff at the Buckingham County Health Department.

After I was attacked by two dogs at the Wingina Batteau Festival stop last Monday, considerable concern arose as to my injury and the possibility of rabies.

Carla Thompson, of Nelson County Animal Control, had no success in locating anyone at the location who could give information on the dogs and their owners.

Louis took over on Tuesday and spent two days searching for, and finally finding, the owners and the proof of vaccination, saving me a series of rabies shots.

I was treated so respectfully and compassionately. It helps to know someone “has our backs.”
