“He came to the division from Hopewell City Public Schools, where he was the supervisor of alternative programming and district intervention,” school officials said in the release. “He has also served as an assistant principal and a principal for Mecklenburg County Public Schools.”

“I’m very happy to be back in Cumberland,” Camden said. “This has always been home to me. I’m very familiar with a lot of the community already, a lot of the students and just I’m more than thrilled to be back here and to help lead, you know, just help out overall with the school.”

Camden, who was appointed assistant principal April 10, said the school staff does a “wonderful” job.

He said students and parents could expect him to continue to have the same goals he’s had since he began as assistant principal.

“With me, I’ll continue as I’ve been doing since April 10,” Camden said. “I’m very big on building relationships with students, staff, community members (and) parents. I’ll continue to have an open-door policy,” Camden said. “I’ll continue to have that team approach to make decisions that are in the best interest of our students.”

According to the release, he was named the division’s teacher of the year in 2010.

“In addition he has coached basketball and soccer,” officials said in the release.

Camden has a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from Longwood University and a master of supervision and leadership degree from Liberty University.

The release cited Camden will replace Jeffrey Dingeldein who is moving to the IT staff where he will serve as the computer technician and instructional technology resource teacher.

“(Dingeldein) has served as an administrative assistant and director of student activities, an assistant principal, a principal, a teacher and an adjunct instructor for Longwood University,” officials said in the release. “He has extensive experience with a variety of operating systems and numbers Microsoft applications, has a background in digital design and database management and is currently completing the Dell Warranty Service technician I and II certifications.”
