A 23-year-old Farmville man pled guilty to taking indecent liberties with a child and was sentenced to 10 years with eight years and nine months suspended, resulting in an active sentence of 15-months in jail.

According to the online circuit court records, Anthony Antwan Blanton was not prosecuted on a charge of carnal knowledge of a 13-14 year old without force.

“There was a plea agreement whereby if Blanton entered a guilty plea to taking indecent liberties with a minor, the carnal knowledge charge would be dismissed without prejudice,” said Prince Edward Commonwealth Attorney Megan Clark.

According to Clark, Blanton was charged in connection to having sexual intercourse with a juvenile female.

“(Blanton) admitted to this conduct, and corroborating evidence was found when a search warrant was executed,” Clark said. “The plea agreement was reached in the interests of justice and to shield the victim from the criminal justice process during an already tumultuous time for her.”

Blanton was originally charged along with DeOnte Blanton, of Lynchburg. Following their arrests, Prince Edward Sheriff’s Department Major David Wilmoth said the charges were in connection with the “statutory rape” of two girls.

According to Wilmoth, the Amelia County Sheriff’s Office “had taken a report on April 9 of two juveniles (who) were missing. It was reported to us that the one juvenile had went to stay the night over at another juvenile’s house. They subsequently went missing,” he said.

“The mother of the juveniles reported them missing that day,” Wilmoth said. “They were located later on that day through the Amelia County investigation on the missing persons part. They were able to determine that they had stayed the night over in Prince Edward and had sexual contact with two adults. …”

The investigation led police to a residence on Depot Road in Rice.
