Hampden-Sydney College’s (H-SC) tennis team snapped a four-match losing streak and improved to 7-5 on the season with a 9-0 defeat of visiting Greensboro College on Tuesday. Tigers freshman Matthew Moody, pictured above, defeated Justin Kimball 6-2, 6-0 in the No. 1 singles match. At No. 2, freshman Grayson Burns shut out Kevin Nickel 6-0, 6-0, and at No. 3, junior Nathan Horvit dispatched Jervis Garcia 6-0, 6-0. Greensboro brought just three student-athletes, was forced to default Nos. 2-3 doubles and Nos. 4-6 singles and elected not to play No. 1 doubles, giving the Tigers a 6-0 win before singles competition began. H-SC, which is 2-3 in the conference, hosts Randolph College on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
