Prince Edward County High School students attended the Virginia Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Spring Leadership Conference on April 7-8.

“The students that advanced from regionals competed in eight events from digital video production to public speaking,” officials said in a press release.

“During the conference, Prince Edward FBLA was named an honor chapter for the Longwood Region. Six students are now eligible to compete at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California over the summer. Students participated in many workshops on topics including leadership development, dress for success and goal setting. Prince Edward FBLA also joined several schools in presenting a workshop on having a successful FBLA chapter.”

According to the press release, the winners at the State Leadership Conference include Tiba Hamza, second place in introduction to business procedures; Henry Lutz, second place in business calculations and Joel Thomas, second place in public speaking II.

The team of Keillor Libby, Natalie Cheyne and Sarah Edwards won first place in digital video production.

FBLA-PBL is the largest business education student organization in the world, according to the release. “Nearly a quarter of a million high school and middle school students, college and university students, faculty, educators, administrators and business professionals have chosen to be members of the premier business education association preparing students for careers in business.”

“The organization is recognized by the American Management Association, Association for Career and Technical Education, Career College Association, International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education, March of Dimes, National Association of Parliamentarians, National Association of Secondary School Principals, National Business Education Association, National Management Association and the U.S. Department of Education.”
