Rescheduled car show is Saturday

Happy birthday wishes go out this week to the following: Doris Roberts, of New Canton, and Caroline Martin, of Dillwyn, on Friday; Barbara Dunn, of Dillwyn, and Eleanor Troutman, of Richmond, on Monday; and Tempy Davenport, of Dillwyn, on Tuesday.

Congratulations to Nat and Donna Cooke, of Cartersville, who will be celebrating their anniversary Saturday.

The fourth annual “Let’s Fight Cancer Together” car and bike show will be held Saturday from noon-4 p.m. at Teresa’s Place located at Sprouse’s Corner. Music by Isaac Randolph and a 50/50 raffle will be held. There will be awards given for first- and second-place winners for cars and motorcycles for best in show.

Categories for cars will include pre-1950s, 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000-2009, 2010 to present and drag cars. For motorcycles, categories are domestic and metric. 

All proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of loved ones lost to cancer.

Victory Baptist Church, located at 157 Dove Lane at Spout Spring, hosts special services on Sunday. Sunday school will begin at 10 a.m. Following this, morning worship will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Southern gospel music at its best from Smokey Wilson, of Concord, followed by the morning message from Pastor Jeff Worley.

Loaves of Love Food Pantry is operated by the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 2294 Cartersville Road. This food pantry is designed for Cumberland County residents, which includes Cartersville.

The next food distribution will be held Wednesday from 3-4:30 p.m. If it’s your first time coming to the food bank, you must bring in two forms of ID and proof of income. All food boxes are served on a first-come first-serve basis.

The Buckingham County Christian Fellowship Association, a nonprofit organization, will be hosting its regular monthly meeting Monday at 5 p.m. at Pino’s Italian Restaurant in Dillwyn. Spreading God’s Gifts Inc., a nonprofit organization of Buckingham that helps people in surrounding counties in their hour of need, will host a benefit dinner and concert Saturday at Concord Baptist Church at 12053 Francisco Road. Dinner will be served from 5-6 p.m. and will include a barbecue plate dinner for a donation. Eat in or take out. Beginning at 6 p.m., gospel music will be presented, including the First Baptist Church Choir of Dillwyn and Pastor Cameron Cloud and family of Hatcher Baptist Church, of Cumberland.
