Inez Dowdy Simpson, 99 of Farmville, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017. She was born August 12, 1917 to the late Annie Singleton Dowdy and Charlie Hamilton Dowdy Sr. She was the wife of the late John Daniel Simpson Sr. and mother of the late John Daniel Simpson Jr.

She is survived by grandsons, John Daniel Simpson III (Mary Ann), Bryan Patrick Simpson (Tina), Christopher Adam Simpson (friend, Amy); daughter-in-law, Marlene Barger Simpson, great grandsons, Slade Walker Simpson, Hayden Thomas Marshall and Gavyn Parker Simpson, numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend, Florence Seamster. 

She was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2017 11 a.m. at Westview Cemetery. Family will receive friends following the graveside at the Farmville Presbyterian Church social hall. 

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of the Watson Assisted Living Unit of The Woodland for their outstanding love and care of Inez and also a very special thank you to Sara, Mark and Cookie for their continued love, devotion and care of Inez.
