Foundation offers its thanks to the community

The Cumberland County Public Schools Foundation thanks the many contributors who donated time and talents to support the fifth annual Run High Bridge 5K on Saturday, March 18.

One-hundred and twenty-nine participants ran over High Bridge. Donations totaled $12,210, which will help fund teacher grants and college scholarships.

A special thank you goes to “level of investment” donors, including Centra Southside Community Hospital, Colonial Pipeline, Southside Electric Cooperative, Taco Bell, Carla Urquhart Scholarship, Cartersville Ruritans, Edgenuity, Sonny Merriman Inc., David Goodman Scholarship and 30 other businesses, churches, clubs and families.

The foundation also appreciates the support from High Bridge Trail State Park personnel, Centra Southside Community Hospital, Riverside Runners, Pairet’s, The Farmville Herald, Farmville Visitor’s Center, the Virginia Army National Guard, The Sleeping Bee, Longwood University’s fitness and wellness coordinator, the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity at Longwood University, the Southside Virginia Family YMCA, the Powhatan YMCA, the Cumberland County High School cafeteria and the Woman’s Club of Cumberland GFWC.
