GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE, 7 p.m. at Cedar Baptist Church, 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn.

VA DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS SERVICES, will be in Farmville from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Farmville Prince Edward Library, 1303 W. Third St., Farmville, weather permitting.

HOT DOG BAR OF FARMVILLE, 4-8 p.m., is hosting a fundraiser and donating a percentage of all sales to the Southside SPCA.

GOOD FRIDAY, 7 p.m., “A Stop at the Cross” at Calvary Chapel, 302 Industrial Park Road, Farmville.

GOOD FRIDAY SERVICES, 7 p.m. at New Hope. The service will be “The Seven Last Words of Christ From the Cross.” Various guest preachers will be bringing the word.

GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE, 7 p.m. First Baptist Church in Dillwyn. All are invited to attend. First Baptist Church will have an Easter Sunrise Service at the Dillwyn Town Cemetery on Easter Sunday beginning at 6:30 a.m. All are invited.

GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE, 7 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 14167 Farmville Road. The Rev. Bobby Waker will be the speaker and New Bethel Community Men’s Chorus will render the music. All are invited to come and worship.

SEVEN LAST WORDS, 7 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church on Route 45, Cartersville. There will be different guest speakers. All are welcome.

APRIL 15

WALK THE CROSS, 11 a.m., representing the Passion of Christ sponsored by The Church Without Walls Outreach Ministry, Cumberland. Members will carry the cross from the Luther P. Jackson School on Anderson Highway in Cumberland to the Bright Hope Center on Route 45 in Cumberland. After reaching the Bright Hope Center, they will place the cross on the lawn and will meet, greet and fellowship, serve lunch and have a community egg hunt for the youth. Bright Hope Center will be open to those who are unable to participate in the walk.

CARTERSVILLE’S Sixth ANNUAL SECOND CHANCE 5K MISSION RUN, 8 a.m. The race starts at the community house, goes across the James River bridge, then back through the village of Cartersville and finally returns to the start/finish line. Online registration can be found at www.raceit.com and more race information can be found at www.cartersvillebaptist.com as well as their Facebook Event, “Second Chance 5K Mission Run.” Early registration guarantees a race T-shirt.

EASTER EGG HUNT, 2 p.m. at Centenary UMC, Route 20 for all kids.

RESURRECTION SUNDAY, 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Chapel, 302 Industrial Park Road, Farmville.

SUNRISE SERVICE, 6:30 a.m. at Bethel Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. James Hurt Jr. will be the guest speaker at the Sunrise Service.

JOINT EASTER SUNRISE AND WORSHIP SERVICE, 6 a.m. at Midway Baptist Church, 637 Guinea Road. This year’s theme is “The Son Has Risen” and the service will be an outdoor service with live presentations on “The Resurrection of Jesus.” Breakfast will be served following the sunrise service. Regular worship service will be at 9 a.m.

EASTER SUNDAY SERVICE, 11 a.m. at Farmville Baptist Church.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICES, 7 a.m. of the James River Charge Centenary UMC with Pastor Dr. Paul Larrimore and Glenmore UMC at 6 a.m. with the Rev. Don Collins.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE, 6:30 a.m. at the Macedonia Baptist Church of Rice. The Rev. Dr. Calvin Smith and his church family, Amelia Baptist Church, of Rice, will be guest speaker.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE, 6:30 a.m. followed by breakfast in the fellowship hall at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, 3932 Bell Road, Dillwyn. Worship service will be at 8 a.m. when the cantata “The King Is Coming” will be presented. There will be no Sunday School or 11 a.m. service on Easter Sunday.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE, 7 a.m., drop off pot luck breakfast food items at Oakwood. At 7:10 a.m., join the group at Routes 602 and 690 to follow the cross, praying and singing, then return to Oakwood for a service followed by breakfast. Sunday School at 10 a.m. and worship service and communion is at 11 a.m. Oakwood UMC is located at 1291 Columbia Road, Columbia.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE, 6:30 a.m. at Nazareth Baptist Church, Phenix. Prayer and praise testimonials begin at 6:30 and preaching at 7 a.m. with an inspiring message from the Pastor Russell Lomax. Breakfast will be served. All are welcome.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE, 6 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Red House. Pastor Lewis M. Watson will deliver God’s message and music will be rendered by the senior choir. Sunrise service will be followed by breakfast and then Sunday School at 8:45 a.m.

EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE, 6 a.m. at Bethel Grove Baptist Church, Rice.

EASTER MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE, 9 am. at the Cornerstone Baptist Church (CBC), 16 Horsepen Road, Farmville. The Combined CBC choirs will sing and Pastor Lee Watkins Jr. will preach.

SONRISE SERVICE, 7 a.m. at Worsham Baptist Church. The service will be held at Wilck’s Lake Park on Third Street near the skateboarding rink. All in Farmville and the surrounding area are invited to attend.

SUNRISE SERVICE, 6 a.m. at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, intersection of Routes 15 and 20. Pastor Michael Mosley will be preaching the sunrise service followed by breakfast served by the men’s ministry of the church. The youth ministry will be having an Easter Scripture Hunt immediately following morning service. There will be no 11 a.m. service.

YOUTH/SPRING REVIVAL, 7 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, Keysville. The Rev. John Craighead, pastor of the Mossingford Baptist Church will be the guest proclaimer for the week. Guest choirs invited. Everyone welcome to attend.

APRIL 20

BIBLE STUDY, 7 p.m. sponsored by Fresh Air Ministries at Holiday Inn, downtown Lynchburg on Main Street. Bible Study is conducted by Pastor Charles Ramey Sr., of EMPOWERMENT Temple ,COGIC of Pamplin.

THIRD THURSDAY WINE DOWN, 4-8 p.m. at the Virginia Tasting Cellar with a fundraiser for the SPCA. A percentage of proceeds will go to the shelter.

MEETING, 6:30 p.m. of the Farmville Jack Garland American Legion Post 32 and the Legion Auxiliary at the Thomas Hardy Graham VFW Post, 1616 Graham Road, Farmville. All members and prospective members are asked to attend.

COMMUNITY BEREAVEMENT WORKSHOP, 5:30 p.m. sponsored by New Century Hospice, 201 N. Main St., Suite 300 (third floor). The focus will be on mindfulness and grief and will include information and time to practice mindful meditation. Call or email the Rev. BLOOD DRIVE, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Buckingham County High School, 98 Fannie White Road.

CRUISE IN, 5 p.m. till dusk, at the old Schewel’s Parking lot sponsored by the Heart of Virginia Classic Auto Club. Bring your classic car to show or just come and look at the cars. A 50/50 drawing will be held, and three top trophies will be awarded to the winners of public votes.

APRIL 21-22

MUSIC WORKSHOP, 7-9 p.m. at First Liberty Baptist Church, Dillwyn and continuing Saturday, April 22, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Johnathan Spivey will act as facilitator. Contact Nannie Woodson, minister of music, at (434) 983-3876.

APRIL 22

BENEFIT MOTORCYCLE RIDE, 9 a.m. to benefit the Burkeville Lodge for the Blind. Registration is at 9 a.m. at the Burkeville Lodge, 341 Oak St., Burkeville. Ride begins at 10 a.m. Day includes a 145-mile scenic ride to Lovingston, lunch at the Burkeville Lodge and drawings. Route details will be handed out the morning of the ride. Cost is $20 per rider, which includes lunch, $10 per passenger with lunch. Contact Harold Wagstaff at (434) 603-1433.

PAINT YOUR PET PARTY, at Red Door 104, a fundraiser for the Southside SPCA. Two time-slots are available: 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m.

BIRDING ADVENTURE, 8 a.m. sponsored by the Margaret Watson Bird Club with volunteers from High Bridge Trail. PRAYER BREAKFAST, 9 a.m. at Morrison Grove Baptist Church, Charlotte Court House. The speaker is Minister Lillian Johnson. The Women Empowerment Bible Study welcome all women to come and enjoy breakfast and hear the word of God.

APRIL 23

142 YEARS TO CELEBRATE, 3 p.m., New Bethel Baptist Church, 14167 Farmville Road. The Rev. Vater C. Colbert Sr., pastor of Restoration Baptist Church, of Amelia, will be the guest speaker. His choir and church congregation will accompany him. All are welcome. A meal will be served.

APRIL 26

WATER QUALITY TESTING, at the Buckingham County Extension Office. Take the opportunity to have your pond, creek, stream or household water tested. Pick up your kit on Monday, April 24, 6-8 p.m. and drop it back off on Wednesday, April 26 from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the extension office. Register by April 14 by calling (434) 969-4261. The fee is $55 per kit.

APRIL 29

SPRING SPRINT, sponsored by the Friends of Twin Lakes State Park. The event will include one-mile fun run for children and is a family-fun event where kids will race around Goodwin Lake and compete for trophies. To register in advance, email the Friends of Twin Lakes at twinlakesparkfriends@gmail.com or call the park office at (434)-392-3435.

FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT, 3 p.m. at New Witt Baptist Church Hospitality Ministry. Different ministers will speak on each fruit. Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome. The church is located on Route 15 South.
