Everyday in communities across Farmville, Buckingham, Cumberland and Prince Edward, volunteers with emergency response agencies, such as rescue squads and fire departments, go out of their way, sacrificing time with their families, friends and loved ones to put themselves into harm’s way to offer protection to the entire community. An example of such community pride and volunteerism in these agencies was when five of them came together to fight a massive fire in southern Buckingham, where 39 vehicles burned, causing much property damage. We offer our thanks, not only to these specific volunteers for responding, but to every fire department volunteer, rescue squad member and emergency responder who work hard to keep us and our loved ones safe and healthy in our hour of need.
