Three students from Cumberland, Buckingham and Prince Edward counties competed Saturday in the Richmond Times Dispatch Regional Spelling Bee, held at the Library of Virginia in Richmond. Students from the Heart of Virginia who competed are pictured, from left, Emily Eroh, Cumberland County Elementary, fourth grade; Elizabeth McElfresh, Prince Edward County Middle, fifth grade; and Chance Woodson, Buckingham County Middle, sixth grade. Woodson and Eroh were county bee winners while McElfresh was the runner-up in Prince Edward County. “All three made a great showing in the regional bee,” said Sarah McElfresh, Elizabeth’s mother, who attended the regional spelling bee. We congratulate the students for their success and representing their respective schools so well.
