Sara M. Smith passed away March 15. She was born June 27, 1922 in Gastonia, North Carolina, the youngest of eight children. She served in the U.S. Air Force for 30 years as a budget analyst. She raised two sons in Denver, Colorado, moving east and south when they did.

She was preceded in death by her son Ronald Marshall Smith.

She is survived by her son Curt Smith and his wife Susan, of Hampden-Sydney; granddaughter Morgan Smith, of Hamilton, Indiana; daughter-in-law Barbara Smith, of Wimauma, Florida; grandson Shannon Smith, of Valrico, Florida; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Johns Memorial Episcopal Church at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 26. Shorter Funeral Home is serving the family.
