Sailor’s Creek Battlefield Historical State Park is looking for volunteers to help with its Adopt-A-Highway roadside cleanup effort along Saylers Creek Road, which runs through the middle of the battlefield.

The event will be held Saturday, April 1, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

“Join fellow conservation-minded citizens and supporters of the park in recognition of this Spring Stewardship Day,” park officials said in the release.

“Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing. Dress in layers and where comfortable, close-toed shoes. Traffic safety vests, gloves, sun block, bug spray and trash collecting materials will be provided by the park. Snack bars and bottled water will also be supplied. The cleanup effort typically lasts no more than a few hours and is suggested for ages 8 and up.”

This event is weather dependent and will be rescheduled at a date to be determined, should it be postponed.
