Redbud Garden Club meeting held

The February meeting of Redbud Garden Club was held Feb. 28 at Mary Hazlegrove’s home with Janet Higgins serving as co-hostess, according to a press release. Guests were Chelsea Giles, Anna Garrett and Nancy Schaeffer.
“Bob Flippen presented an interesting program on ‘Faith & Poverty and the Farmville & Powhatan Railroad,’” club officials said in a release. “Members found the information quite interesting since this almost forgotten railroad went through part of Cumberland.”
“Blue ribbons were awarded to Dottie Fahrner, Mary Hazlegrove, Janet Higgins, Ann Ligon, Patsy Miessler, Audrey Robinson, Sarah Schember and Barbara Stimpson for “Sticks & Stones” (designer’s choice featuring sticks, stones, and/or weathered wood). Red ribbons went to Liz Dunn, Rebecca Giles and Jean Taylor with yellow ribbons going to April McBride and Alice Metts.”
According to the release, “Young at Heart,” (a Hogarth Valentine design) earned blue ribbons for Rebecca Giles, Janet Higgins, Gail Thompson and Joyce Thompson. Barbara Stimpson received a red and yellow ribbons went to Audrey Robinson and Kate Shorter.
