LU falls in first round of BSC tourney
The 10th-seeded Longwood University women’s basketball team put together a valiant upset bid against the reigning conference champions in the first round of the Big South Women’s Basketball Championship on Thursday, but No. 7 UNC Asheville came alive in the second half to prevail 65-59. The Lancers held the lead for more than 20 minutes of the game. Freshman guard Khaila Hall, pictured at left, led Longwood by scoring a career-high 21 points for the night. The Lancers finished the 2016-17 season with an overall record of 4-26.
