The Farmville Area Ministers’ Association (FAMA) is hosting its annual series of Lenten Lunch services each Wednesday leading up to Easter. Each week, the half-hour worship service is followed by a soup-lunch.

On the final week before Easter the event is held on Good Friday at Farmville Baptist Church.

“All are invited to attend worship and share in the free lunch,” organizers said in a press release. “A mission offering is taken in worship each week that supports FAMA’s utility-assistance ministry.”

“FAMA holds open meetings of area clergy each month for prayer and ministry planning.  FAMA is led by (its) current coordinator, Pastor Marv Fisher of Calvary Chapel. Churches hosting the Lenten Lunch series this year are Farmville Presbyterian (March 15), Jericho Baptist (March 22, formerly Race Street Baptist Church), Saint Teresa Catholic Church (March 29), Saint John’s Lutheran (April 5) and Farmville Baptist (April 14, Good Friday).

“FAMA has hosted various church-partnering events including a 2015 Palm Sunday service at Riverside Park and a Sunday Evening Prayer Service at the Moton Museum prior to the Vice-Presidential Debate last October. The clergy relationships and congregational teamwork are vital as we weave a shared network of Christian care and serve our neighbors in our wider community,” organizers said.
