Hampden-Sydney College was represented this week by a trio of athletes who earned Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Week honors in their respective sports, and Longwood University added one more similar honoree in the Big South Conference.
Tigers freshman Matthew Moody was named ODAC Tennis Player of the Week after helping his team to a 1-1 week by going a combined 4-0 in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles matches.
Junior midfielder Hunter Brown was named ODAC Lacrosse Player of the Week for the second time this season after putting up a 14-point week that helped the Tigers roll to a pair of 17-8 wins.
Freshman right-handed pitcher Chase Mayberry was named ODAC Pitcher of the Week after an impressive Saturday complete-game performance in which he allowed just five hits and one walk and threw six strikeouts to help set up a 10-0 home win over Emory & Henry College.
Longwood senior right-handed pitcher Cody Wager was named Big South Pitcher of the Week after taking a no-hitter deep into the eighth inning and collecting the series-clinching 1-0 win against visiting Charleston Southern University on Saturday. In 8.1 innings, he allowed only three hits and one walk and threw 10 strikeouts.
