Food distribution dates scheduled

Barry Miles and his good friend Sam Givens, both of Cumberland, enjoyed an evening meal at Golden Palace Restaurant in Farmville on Thursday.

The Cumberland County Community Food Bank partners with the Central Virginia Food Bank. A FeedMore Program of Richmond will be distributing food to Cumberland County residents on Monday, March 20 from 11:30 a.m. until all food is gone. The giveaway will take place at the old Cumberland County Elementary School cafeteria next door to the gym at 1874 Anderson Hwy. You must have already registered to get food or you must see the director, Jerry Seal.

Linda Miles and Jane Cooke, both of Cumberland, along with Annie May Miles, of Dillwyn, enjoyed an evening meal and fellowship at KFC in Farmville on Thursday, March 2.

Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to Elaine Myers, of Dillwyn, who celebrated her birthday on Thursday, March 16.

Welcome home to Pat Hawks, of Cumberland, who is now home from the hospital after having had surgery last week.

A very special get-well wish is sent out this week to Blake Waycaster, son of T.J. and Stephanie Waycaster, of Powhatan.

Shiloh New Covenant Church, located at 665 Anderson Hwy., is partnering with Central Virginia FeedMore Program to operate the Shiloh New Covenant Food Pantry Commodity Supplemental Food Program for seniors age 60 years and older. The program will accept new applications for new clients on Monday from 1-3 p.m. for all seniors 60 and older who are county residents and qualify based on income.

You must bring a form of ID and proof of your monthly income. Also, when you become qualified for this food program, you will be contacted by phone from the food bank director when you can start your pick up for the food.

Elizabeth Stone and her daughter, Linda Seay, both of Richmond, visited in the home of Elizabeth’s brother and sister-in-law James and Virginia Boyles, of Cumberland, on Saturday March 4.
