David was born in Huntington, West Virginia on March 12, 1949.

While in Virginia, he attended Arlington Church of Christ and settled in Farmville at Piedmont Church of Christ in 1998. David loved the Lord. As a faithful and dedicated member, he was willing to do anything that needed to be done and enjoyed any time spent with church family. David attended Abilene Christian University before working at various libraries, including Farmville, Cumberland, the Library of Congress and Smithsonian. David also served briefly in the Air Force.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Anna and Earle Thompson, and his grandparents, Anna and Lucius Alexander.

He is survived by siblings, Mary Seitz, William Thompson, Sue Dickinson and Ann DaRoss.

A memorial service at Piedmont Church of Christ is scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, at 6 p.m.
