Claude Alvin Schmidt

Claude Alvin Schmidt, 92, of Farmville, VA passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017. He was born on October 13, 1924 in Rice, VA to the late George and Annie Hamlett Schmidt.

He worked as an Auger driver for VEPCO until his retirement and was a hard worker. He was known for his easy-going manner and would help anybody he could. He was a faithful member of Farmville Baptist Church and lived in this area for his whole life. He enjoyed singing in the choir at church, working in the garden, music and dancing.

He is survived by his children; Michael Kent Schmidt of Farmville, Kathy S. Redd (Werner) of Meherrin, VA, Lisa Schmidt (Robert Albertson) of Arlington, VA.; brother Clarence Schmidt, of Farmville; sister, Alma Lewis, of Farmville, four grandchildren; Jordan Hawe, Crystal Corbett (Earl), Ashley Brooke Haggerty (Stephan), Heather Redd and four great-grandchildren; Conner Howard, Collin Howard, Lilly Redd, Trip Haggerty and a loving friend Alise Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Frances Schmidt, and two brothers; Clyde and Aubrey Schmidt.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 3 p.m. in the Farmville Baptist Church with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens.
