STARGAZING AT THE PARK, 7:30 p.m. sponsored by the Richmond Astronomy Club at James River State Park to show a variety of stars and explore many other things that glitter in the night sky. REAL-TIME BATTLEFIELD HIKE, 4 p.m. sponsored by the staff of Sailor’s Creek Battlefield Historical State Park. Join them as they hike in real time one of three battlefields which was the scene of fighting here 152 years ago, the historic Hillsman House. Visitors will participate in a minute-by-minute guided hike along the footsteps of the soldiers that fought the Battle of the Hillsman Farm. The hike will conclude at the Confederate Overlook trailhead. Visitors may return to the Hillsman House for a living history tour of that site. This family-friendly/pet-friendly event is free to the public.

STATEWIDE FISHING CAMP, at Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center, 1267 4-H Camp Road, Appomattox. The weekend camp is open to children ages 9-13. No experience is necessary. Beginners welcome! Campers will learn knot tying, fishing safety, fish ID and casting techniques as well as all about fishing equipment and different types of bait. EASTER EGG HUNT, 9-11 a.m. the Randolph District Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary is holding a breakfast with the Easter Bunny and egg hunt at the firehouse, 2145 Cumberland Road. The egg hunt will be at 10 a.m. Breakfast will be pancakes, egg casserole, muffins, juice, milk and coffee. Have children ages infant to 12 to bring their Easter baskets to collect the eggs. Please donate at the door to support the fire department. The auxiliary meets on the first Wednesday of the month at the firehouse. New members are needed and welcomed.

152nd COMMEMORATION OF THE BATTLES OF SAILOR’S CREEK, 10 a.m. at Sailor’s Creek Battlefield Historical State Park. This event will entail living history throughout the park. Experience Civil War soldier encampments and scheduled battlefield tactics. A caravan tour will be led by park manager and noted author Chris Calkins visiting key sites of the “Lee’s Retreat” driving tour. There will also be many living historians providing civilian and medical demonstrations at the historic Hillsman House. This family-friendly event is free to the public.

FISH FRY, 4-7 p.m. sponsored by the Piney Ridge UMC Relay for Life Team at the Pamplin Fire Department. Menu includes baked beans, coleslaw, hushpuppies, potatoes, hot dogs, desserts, tea, lemonade or water. Eat in or take out. Suggested donation is $7.
