MARCH 4

CELESTIAL SKIES AT SAILOR’S CREEK, 7 p.m. with the Crewe Astronomy Club. If you have a telescope, bring it along. In addition, the facilitator of this event, Kim Kenny will provide a PowerPoint presentation on how those interested can become a backyard astronomer studying the celestial sky. This program is free to the public and family-friendly.

ANNUAL AUCTION, 10 a.m., sponsored by The Empowerment Temple Church of God in Christ (formerly known as House of Prayer COGIC) at 354 Wood Row Road, Pamplin. There will be all kinds of new and gently used items to buy such as household items, clothes and shoes for adults and children, appliances and more. For more information, call (434) 248-5300.

DINNERS, will be sold by the Apostolic Faith Church of All Nations Women’s Auxiliary and Brotherhood Ministry at the Crossroads Senior Citizens building in Prospect from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information contact Mary Abraham at (434) 574-6577.

BEEF AND CHICKEN BRUNSWICK STEW, 7-10 a.m., sold by the Rice Volunteer Fire Department. The cost is $7 per quart. Call (434) 392-8737 to reserve or contact any Rice fireman.

ANNUAL LADIES MEETING, 10 a.m., of the Women’s Ministry of the Gill Hill Baptist Church, 1427 County Line Road. Keysville. Thelma Lee will be the keynote speaker. Light refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.

WOMEN’S PRAYER BREAKFAST, 9 a.m. at the St. Douglas Baptist Church in Charlotte County. The Rev. Wendell E. Brown is pastor. All are welcome.

MARDI GRAS CELEBRATION, 6-8 p.m. sponsored by the Pamplin Old Time Dance & Community Social at the historic renovated Pamplin Train Depot on Main Street in Pamplin.

MICHAEL WAYNE SMITH IN CONCERT, 11 a.m. at Prospect Gospel Tabernacle, 4307 Prince Edward Hwy., Prospect. A love offering will be received. Everyone is welcome.

PASTOR’S AIDE MINISTRY, 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, Cartersville. Fellowship luncheon will follow the service. An afternoon service will be held at 3 p.m., featuring Bishop Robert Williams of Tabernacle Baptist, Richmond.

ANNUAL PROGRAM, 3 p.m. sponsored by the Pastor’s Aid Ministry of Jericho Baptist Church. Dr. Calvin Gray, pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, will deliver the message. He will be accompanied by his choir. All are welcome. Jericho Church is located at 615 Franklin Street. Dr. James H. Taylor is senior pastor.

GOSPEL SINGING, 3 pm. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Cumberland. The special guest will be the Jones Family of Buckingham. All are welcome. All proceeds from the events will benefit the Mt. Olive Baptist Church building fund.

LENTEN SERVICES/LUNCHEONS, 12 noon at Payne Memorial United Methodist Church. The theme this year is “Tiny Faith — Awesome Grace.” The speaker will be the Rev. Betty Lou Weaver and the topic is “Mountains Still Move.” Lunch will be provided by members of the congregation. The church is located at 1 Stoney Point Road in Cumberland (across from the courthouse.)

BIBLE STUDY, 7 p.m. sponsored by Fresh Air Ministries at Holiday Inn, downtown Lynchburg on Main Street, Thursday Nights weekly. DEACON AND TRUSTEE’S ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church. The musical guest will be Soldiers for Christ. Midway is located at 837 Guinea Road in Farmville. All are welcome.
