Central Virginia Christian School holds public speaking contest

Central Virginia Christian School (CVCS) fifth graders participated in the a public speaking contest on Feb. 8. According to a school press release, students presented original speeches on a topic of their choosing. Purple, blue and red ribbons were awarded by the three-judge 4-H panel. Students receiving a purple ribbon are eligible to compete in the district contest later this month. Angelique Lightbody and Gavin Yoder both received purple ribbons. Blue-ribbon winners included Brandon Crews, Ben Dorrier, Sawyer Furlong, Dylan Hackett, Owen Irausquin, Noah Jones, Elizabeth Tomlin and Megan Wright. Red-ribbon recipients included Gavin Dunkum, Andy Kingsley, Ethan Lang and Layne Petersheim.
