Valentine’s Day Dinner is Sunday

We would like to thank the Farmville Rotary Club, food vendors and volunteers who helped make the 13th annual Taste of Farmville at the Steps Centre a tremendous success on Jan. 26. A wonderful time of great food sampling and fellowship was held by all.

Happy birthday wishes are sent out this week to the following: Gladys LeSueur, of Dillwyn Friday, Feb. 10; Bonnie Williams, of Arvonia, and Tabitha Gough, of Wingina, Monday, Feb. 13; Wayne Davenport, of Dillwyn, Tuesday, Feb. 14; and Ashley Baird, of Dillwyn, Wednesday, Feb. 15.

Happy anniversary wishes are sent out this week to the following: Wayne and Tempy Davenport, of Dillwyn celebrating their 50th anniversary on Tuesday, Feb. 14, and Mike and Joy Yoder, of Cumberland, on Thursday, Feb. 16.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who are sick and shut in Dillwyn and surrounding areas.

Shiloh New Covenant Church, located about five miles east of Cumberland Court House at 665 Anderson Highway, partners with the Central Virginia FeedMore Program, and operates the Shiloh New Covenant Food Pantry Commodity Supplemental Food Program, feeding seniors age 60 years and older.

On Monday from 12:30 p.m.-3 p.m. the program will accept applications for new clients who are Cumberland County residents. You must bring a form of ID and proof of your monthly income.

If you have already been approved and are receiving food from the Seventh Day Adventist Church, which operates Loaves of Love, you do not need to reapply that day.

Buckingham Baptist Church located on Route 15 in New Canton, will be hosting a benefit Valentine’s Dinner and movie on Sunday. The dinner will begin at 12:30 p.m. with homemade spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, dessert and a drink for a suggested donation of $10. Eat in or take out.

At 2 p.m. the movie Miracles From Heaven will be shown.

All proceeds resulting from the event will go to the Buckingham Baptist Youth department.

Hint: If you want a juicer hamburger, add a half cup of cold water to one pound of ground beef, then grill.
