Dorothy Arlene Wright, 75, of Buckingham, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in Lynchburg. Born October 23, 1941 in Buckingham, she was a daughter of the late Alfred Burnley and Bessie Burnley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Wright, in 2003.

Dorothy was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Lovingston.

She is survived by her sister, Shirley Ann Branch; two nieces, Brenda Martin Gunter (Perry) and Betty Ann Bryant, all of Buckingham; three nephews, Robert Steger Jr., James M. Burnley, and Danny Joe Burnley, all of Buckingham; sister-in-law, Barbara L. Breeden (Sissie) of Buckingham as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 4 at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with Pastor John P. Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday and suggest that memorial contributions be made in Dorothy’s memory to Oak Hill Baptist Church, 248 Davis Creek Road, Lovingston, VA 22949.
