FREE FAMILY WORKSHOP, 10:30 a.m. at LCVA.

CALLED MEETING, 11 a.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church of Keysville. This meeting concerns church officers for 2017. All active members are asked to attend.

BRUNSWICK STEW, 8 a.m. until, at Pamplin Fire Department sponsored by Pamplin No. 58 Eastern Star. Stew is $8 per quart. Orders can be reserved in advance, for early pickup on Saturday before noon, by calling (434) 248-5780 or (434) 390-7124. Stew Master Denny Throckmorton will be on hand.

WORSHIP SERVICES, 10:30 a.m. at Safe Haven Christian Ministries, 505 Griffin Blvd. Farmville in the (SCOPE building). The pastor is the Reverend Gloria Eanes.

CRAFTS BY THE FIRE, 2 p.m. at Twin Lakes State Park as we discover our creative side while roasting marshmallows to make s’mores. Stop by with any questions you have about the park and its history. All materials will be provided.

19TH CHOIR ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. the High Rock Baptist Church’s Bernard S. Hill Inspirational Choir. Invited guests are The Blessed Choir and James Carrington and Soldiers of Faith.

SPECIAL GUEST JOEY MAPLES, of Dunn, N.C. will preach at Hatcher Baptist Church, 5 Gravel Hill Road, Cumberland, at the 11 a.m. morning worship. Joey, his wife, and four children will also be in concert Sunday at 6 p.m.

WINTER PROGRAMMING PARTNERSHIP, 7 p.m. High Bridge Trail State Park invites you to attend a “Come in from the Cold” winter programming partnership with the Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library, 1303 W. Third St. Ranger Bob Flippen will present a PowerPoint presentation on “Faith and Poverty — The Farmville-Powhatan Railroad.” All are welcome to attend. HEART OF VA BEEKEEPERS TO MEET, 7 p.m. at the Prince Edward County Extension Office across from Lowe’s in Farmville The meeting will be a meet and greet for the incoming beginning beekeeper class. PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY, 2:30 p.m. at the Midway Baptist Church for the Rev. Irma T. Watson. Praise and prayer service begins at 2:30 p.m. and worship service will begin at 3 p.m. The guest minister will be Elder Keven Caleb, pastor of Thessalonia Baptist Church in Bremo Bluff, along with his choir and ushers. Midway is located at 837 Guinea Road in Farmville. All are welcome.

The guest speaker will be Helen Person, member of Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter NSDAR. The topic of discussion  and presentation is entitled “Revolutionary Valentines.”

VIRGINIA COOPERATIVE EXTENSION, will be hosting a Southside Commercial Fruit Tree School and Private Pesticide Re-certification at the Southern Piedmont Agricultural Research and Extension Center (SPAREC) in Blackstone from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m. Cost will be $20 with lunch and resources included. WELCOME RECEPTION, 6-8 p.m. sponsored by the Friends of the Buckingham County Public Library and the Friends of the Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library for Rick Ewing, the new regional director of the Central Virginia Regional Library in the meeting room of the Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library. All are invited to attend to meet and welcome Ewing as he takes charge of the overall operation and direction of the regional library system.

BLUEBIRD HOUSE BUILDING WORKSHOP, 10 a.m. at Bear Creek Lake State Park. This is a great activity for the whole family. A parent or responsible adult should accompany children. Pre-registration is required. There will be a limited number of kits available and couples/families may reserve a maximum of two kits. BLACK HISTORY PROGRAM, 3 p.m. at Mercy Seat Baptist Church. Dr. Obery M. Hendricks Jr. will be the guest speaker. Hendricks is a visiting Scholar at Columbia University, an emeritus professor of biblical interpretation at New York Theological Seminary and is an accomplished author. Hendricks is the son of the late Obery Hendricks Sr. and Willie B. Hendricks, formerly of Prospect and Charlotte Court House. Music will be rendered by a guest choir.
