Joseph Earnest Shumaker Sr. “J.E.”, 77, of Dillwyn, died Saturday, January 7, 2016 in Farmville. He was born May 19, 1939 in Buckingham County, a son of the late Earnest Wesley and Frances Catlett Shumaker. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William G. “Toddly” Shumaker and Acie C. “Blue” Shumaker. 

J.E. is survived by one daughter, Kimberly S. Clark (Wayne) of Waynesboro; one son, Joseph E. Shumaker Jr. (Trish) of Dillwyn; one sister, E. Jean Ceppi (Peter); two grandsons Trey Shumaker (Chrystal) and Dustin Shumaker (Ashley); and two great-grandchildren, Joey Shumaker and Lucy Shumaker. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 14 from 3-5 p.m. at Dunkum Funeral Home, Dillwyn. Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dillwyn Volunteer Fire Department.
